It was over a year before the platinum record "Carminho canta Tom Jobim" could go on the road. After matching dates between the singer and Banda Nova (the band that accompanied Tom Jobim live during his last ten years, composed of his son and grandson, Paulo and Daniel Jobim, Jacques Morelenbaum and Paulo Braga) the European tour is - finally! - closed. This series of unique, once-in-a-lifetime concerts will end in Portugal, with two unique concerts.
The record that is coming to the stage started its life in 2016, when Tom Jobim's family invited Carminho to dive into the composer's repertoire. Carminho, born among guitars and the voices of Fado, is acclaimed in Portugal and beyond. She has released three multi-platinum records, "Fado", "Alma" and "Canto", which have already reached iconic status within the music of the world.
Carminho's career, with her records and tours, gives her an enviable status internationally. She has had successful sales in Spain, in Scandinavia and Brazil, and tours at some of Europe's and the world's most prestigious venues in Finland, Sweden, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, China, India, Latvia, USA, Germany, UK, South Korea, Poland, France, Austria and Denmark, among many others. She also performs in Brazil at sold-out concerts in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and up and down the country.
Carminho's popularity and the welcome she received in Brazil, with audience and critical acclaim and a warm reception from artists such as Marisa Monte, Caetano Veloso, Chico Buarque, Maria Bethania and Milton Nascimento, made it almost inevitable that Carminho would dip into the repertoire of Brazilian popular music.
Her tour includes ten of the most iconic and prestigious venues in Europe, such as the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Vienna Konzerthaus, Philarmonic in Cologne, La Cigale in Paris, Neumünster Kirche in Zurique, among others, and the Barbican Centre as part of the London Jazz Festival. The tour will draw to a close in Portugal with a guest appearance by Marisa Monte, who sang with Carminho on "Carminho Canta Tom Jobim" and more recently on the new album by Tribalistas.
Listening to Carminho sing Tom Jobim accompanied by Banda Nova and featuring Marisa Monte is a unique and memorable moment that only a few will be able to witness.
