MILEY CYRUS Bangerz Tour 2014

After a very successful North American tour and a two-part tour in Europe, the international superstar Miley Cyrus has finally confirmed that there will be a third instalment of the tour which will include Lisbon. The artist that brought us “Wrecking Ball” performs at the MEO Arena on June 15th. Tickets go on sale on Saturday, march 29th at 10 am at the usual outlets.

Taking the world charts by storm since its release date, the album “Bangerz” has sold over a million copies in the United States going straight to number one on the Billboard 200 and Digital Charts Album tops. “Bangerz” also lead album sales in England, Australia and Ireland, and reached number one on iTunes in over 70 countries.

The first two singles of the album were also a huge success worldwide. “We Can’t Stop” and “Wrecking Ball” have already sold over eight million copies and are heavily featured on major radio playlists from all over the world. The music video for “Wrecking Ball” broke a Vevo record, getting over 100 million views in only six days. Interestingly enough, the previous record was also held by Miley, after her music video “We Can’t Stop” got the same number of views in 37 days.

The “Bangerz” show has received extremely positive reviews. Entertainment Weekly calls it “utterly fresh [...], and proof that Miley won’t settle for just shocking us”. US Weekly described it as the biggest “pop blitz” of the year. Denise Sheppard of Rolling Stone highlights that “perhaps the evening’s most shocking element of all was the fact that there really wasn’t anything jaw-droppingly shocking about the entire night”, which made her feel like Miley has finally achieved her goal of being taken seriously as an artist and not just as someone who is known for her controversial behaviour. Denise Sheppard also mentions that “her taste in other people’s music is quite impressive”, referring to the use of Alt-J track “Fitzpleasure”, Dolly Parton’s tune “Jolene” and Outkast’s “Hey Ya”. USA Today’s Shawn Conner wrote that if Miley’s performance proves anything “it’s that the time has come to move the conversation about the former Disney star beyond the notorious move she pulled on Robin Thicke at last year’s MTV Video Music Awards”. He also complimented the visuals on the big-screen backdrop and the fact that the singer doesn’t lip sync. “Cyrus has the charisma and maybe the smarts to be the post-Madonna Madonna”.
