In a statement, the band explains the decision:
“It is with great regret that we communicate that, due to the still ongoing COVID 19 pandemic, we are forced to change the dates of the European Evolution XXX tour, scheduled for October this year. Supporting band:
VOIVOD, one of the most legendary and influential bands in recent memory in the spectrum of the most experimental extreme sound, will be the only "support" band on OPETH's upcoming European tour. In their luggage, the Canadian group brings their 15th studio album, "Synchro Anarchy", which was released last February 11th via Century Media Records. Having already released the highly acclaimed "The Wake" in 2018 and the live album "Lost Machine - Live" in 2020, the Quebec quartet's latest studio album is made of nine tracks that translate into a kaleidoscopic sonic monster and, in case there were any doubts left, reasserts the group formed by Away on drums, Snake on vocals, Chewy on guitar and Rocky on bass as one of the most feverishly creative constellations on the planet.

Lords of a brilliant career that began, in discographic terms, with the release of the classic "War And Pain", in 1984, and quickly approaching the milestone of four decades of uninterrupted activity, the innovators of progressive and futuristic metal VOIVOD return once again to Portugal, this time in the company of the equally innovative OPETH. Entitled Opeth by Request "Evolution XXX", the route that brings the Swedish band back to Portugal on November 26 for a unique performance at the Sala Tejo of the Altice Arena in Lisbon will celebrate thirty years in the career of one of the most acclaimed and influential heavy music acts of recent years, with the musicians led by Mikael Åkerfeldt giving their legion of fans the opportunity to choose which songs they would like to hear during these performances.

OPETH BIOGRAPHY
Originally from Stockholm, Opeth are one of the defining names in the more progressive side of death metal and since Mikael Åkerfeldt helped create the band in 1990 and became its driving force they have never stopped gaining ground and have built an incredibly solid, consistent and envious career - even gathering high praise from the public, press and industry alike. Adding light elements to their music, from acoustic guitars to jazz, progressive rock, blues and even folk influences to a heavy sound, they have never stuck to the obvious and have attracted attention from many different quarters of heavy music. However, the instability that dominated the first years of their career could never make one guess such a bright future. From 1990 to 1992, Opeth was basically a project of David Isberg and Åkerfeldt, who played their first gigs with the musicians they had most at hand at the time. The viability of the group seemed uncertain until Isberg left, Åkerfeldt took over the vocals (he already had experience in this field with Eruption) and the place of second guitarist was taken by Peter Lindgren.

The duo, with Johan DeFarfalla on bass and Anders Nordin on drums, recorded "Orchid" in 1994 with producer Dan Swanö - released by Candlelight the following year and in the United States, via Century Media, only two years later. The quartet would record their second album, "Morningrise", in 1996, but would again struggle with line-up changes. After the completion of a short tour with Cradle Of Filth, DeFarfalla was fired and Nordin left. 1998's "My Arms, Your Hearse", recorded with Fredrik Nordström, finally introduced the first line-up that would last for over a couple of years, with Martin Lopez on drums and Martin Mendez on bass. Lopez's jazzy feeling gathered praise, as did the darker, more direct nature of much of the themes. Things were happening slowly, but were finally starting to happen. Riding the wave of favorable comments, the quartet wasted little time and, about a year later, made their debut as part of the influential Peaceville catalogue with "Still Life". This is exactly where things start to go more smoothly for Åkerfeldt and company.

Regarded as a real turning point, the fourth album perfected the fusion of seemingly disparate elements that had always characterized them, and the following album, "Blackwater Park", released in 2001 via Music for Nations, established them as an unlikely commercial success and earned them their first world tour. On this and the other side of the Atlantic, the band caused a frenzy with the first result of their working relationship with Porcupine Tree's Steven Wilson. The musicians then embarked on one of their most risky projects and, a year later, they left the studio with two albums under their arm. "Deliverance" and "Damnation" were recorded at the same time and released, respectively in 2002 and 2003, showing the two sides of the group separately - the first brutal as ever, the second totally dedicated to Åkerfeldt's obsession with 70s progressive rock. Both produced again by Wilson, they sealed Opeth's affirmation as one of the most creative and successful bands of their generation - marking their first Billboard entry, their biggest ever tour to date (some 200 concerts between 2003 and 2004) and a distinction for Best Hard Rock Performance at the Swedish Grammys.

"Lamentations (Live at Shepherd's Bush Empire 2003)" hit the shelves in 2004, giving fans time to get acquainted with Per Wiberg (of Spiritual Beggars), who in the meantime had started playing with the band live and helped record "Ghost Reveries". Released in 2005, the debut album for Roadrunner became the most eagerly awaited of their career and fully lived up to expectations, being the one that generated the greatest approval among the press and a fan base that, to this day, doesn't stop growing. Even after the departure of Lopez and Lindgren, replaced by Martin Axenrot and Fredrik Åkesson respectively, Opeth kept their personality intact and, after more than 200 concerts promoting "Ghost Reveries", they finally recorded its successor. "Watershed" was released in 2008 and went straight to #1 on the Finnish sales chart, to #7 in Australia and climbed to the #23 spot on Billboard. Between March and April 2010, Opeth celebrated their twentieth anniversary in a mini-tour documented on the DVD "In Live Concert at The Royal Albert Hall" and in the ten years since, they have never stopped growing, cementing their popularity in a most indelible way. Backed by a string of albums that have loosened up with each new step, from "Heritage" to the latest "In Cauda Venenum", including "Pale Communion" and "Sorceress", it's become obvious that they'll never do anything more than what's in their soul.

BIOGRAFIA OPETH
